Carmela Rocchetti, M.D.is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Human Dimension Course at Hackensack Meridian Health School Of Medicine. Dr. Rocchetti is a clinician educator dedicated to serving and teaching others to understand and serve vulnerable populations. Dr. Rocchetti has designed, developed, and currently directs the innovative Human Dimension (HD) course at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine (HMH-SOM). Through service-learning experiences and an integrated curriculum, students in HD learn about the many Determinants of Health by working directly with individuals and families from underserved areas in an effort to understand the drivers of health outcomes, provide education, and navigate community resources. As an internist at Hackensack Meridian Health since 2011, Dr. Rocchetti has held many academic and leadership roles. Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Rocchetti was Medical Director of the Lenox Hill Ambulatory Care Center in NY and a clinical instructor at the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Rocchetti trained at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell in the Primary Care track program where she served as Ambulatory Chief Resident. She is an alumni of Robert Wood Johnson Rutgers Medical School and Cornell University.

 

Katy Fodchuk, Ph.D. is the Executive Director of Organizational Development at Advanced Learning Partnerships, Inc. Katy is an organizational psychologist with 25 years of broad experience in public and private sectors. Since 2006, she has specialized in K-12 education systems and is passionate about collaborating with and supporting districts as they implement transformational organizational change.

Dr. Katy Fodchuk is excited to contribute to Healing Pines Respite’s mission to provide cancer survivors with opportunities for rest, reflection, and building deeper connections with their fellow survivor community. She is inspired by her grandmother and grandfather who were both long time survivors of cancer. Her grandfather, William Combrink (Papa Bill), was the first man in California to receive radiation. His cancer eventually returned, he survived and thrived 40+ years after his initial diagnosis. Katy’s grandmother, Marilyn Combrink Harris (“Mimi’), was diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age and survived until 89. Marilyn and Bill understood respite and were avid doll house builders, beach walkers, and world travelers. Katy is forever grateful for to have had the time to love and know her grandparents.

Regina Jones was planning her wedding at 36 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sixteen days into her marriage, cancer treatment left her new life as a wife forever changed. She needed to connect with young women who could relate to what she was feeling and going through. Regina joined the Young Survival Coalition group through the UNC Lineberger Cancer Support Center, where she participated in many programs and utilized a number of services. These programs had a lasting effect on her healing, mind and spirit.

Regina has worked on several projects with UNC Lineberger Cancer Hospital including involvement with the Patient and Family Advisory, where she served as the Vice President from 2020 to 2022. She continues to use her energy to advocate care for women fighting cancer and support for their caregivers. She works with the American Cancer Society as Executive Ambassador for the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign in the Triangle each year. She is the creator of Chemo Glow Podcast and continues to give back to the cancer community through her annual “Preserve the Connections” event. 

Regina and her husband now celebrate their wedding anniversary with their beautiful twin girls. Being a wife, mother and advocate continues to empower her to give back.

Jamie Hagerbaumer leads project teams at The Brattle Group in complex economic and financial analysis for expert witness testimony in litigation and regulatory issues. Her clients included Fortune 500 companies, law firms, and government agencies in energy, real estate, derivatives, insurance, chemical, mining, pulp, and securities industries. She estimates damages for litigation and arbitration matters, including breach of contract, intellectual property, market manipulation, and antitrust.
She provides support for expert witness services in the context of international arbitration cases before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). She has also assisted small businesses and non-profits with operations, budgeting, and accounting in various Industries (education, health care, textiles, and fundraising). Jamie is a Half Ironwomen and an avid runner, road and mountain biker, and swimmer. Jamie is active in her community, serving on several school- and district-wide advocacy and programming advisories. “Women spend much of their lives taking care of others and it is incredibly difficult for them to find time to take care of themselves. Healing Pines creates the space and time or women to step back from their daily lives and focus internally on their own needs.”

Claire Connelly is a breast cancer survivor, mother to a child with special needs, and a passionate advocate for enhanced wellness in cancer care. Diagnosed at 36 in November 2021, she chronicled her treatment journey with candor and humor through a widely read blog, offering an authentic perspective on the realities of cancer care.

In April 2023, Claire experienced a transformative respite organized by Healing Pines Respite. She found it so impactful that she believes it should be a standard part of cancer care. This profound experience inspired her to leave the corporate world behind and dedicate herself to helping others by advancing cancer care and survivor programs. She currently works for a local non-profit, the Lung Cancer Initiative, where she serves as the Manager of Fundraising Events.

In addition to her role at the Lung Cancer Initiative, Claire serves on the Duke University Patient Advisory Council. She is deeply committed to giving back to the cancer community and strives to help other young survivors find humor and healing on their own journeys. She brings her personal insight, resilience, and professional expertise to our board.
